Bop It Download, the latest addition to the popular Hasbro Bop It range, builds on the success of Bop It Extreme 2. Both games test concentration and reflex skills and provide hours of entertainment for individuals or groups.
Bop-It Extreme 2
Players respond to voice commands instructing them to Flick It, Twist It, Pull It, Spin It or Bop It. Five different attachments on the game handset represent each actions. Players have only a few seconds to respond to the commands to keep the game in play.
When a player makes a wrong move or reacts too slowly, a rather sarcastic voice responds and provides the score. After every 16 moves there is a brief pause and a change of background music.
Bop It Extreme 2 is an ideal game for school aged children to use to develop co-ordination and concentration skills.
There are three modes of game play:
- Solo: Complete as many actions as possible before making a mistake.
- Pass It: Players face each other or stand/sit in a circle. Each player responds to the commands until instructed to “Pass It”, when the game handset is passed to the next player.
- One on One: Two players, each responsible for two actions, hold the handset and must complete the actions for their own commands as well as trying to beat the other player when responding to Bop It.
Bop It Extreme 2 Features
- Adjustable volume – low, medium, high.
- Beat Bop (voice command) or Vox Bop (sound command) options for all three modes of play.
- Headphones option.
- Non-slip grips on the handles of the game handset.
Bop It Download
Bop It Download features extra functions to increase the complexity and excitement of the game. The game handset and action attachments have been slightly modified and Bop It Extreme players may find it takes some time to adjust to the new Twist It shape particularly. Each attachment is a different colour and is illuminated by a light during different levels of game play. The central Bop It button is a different colour on each side of the handset.
Older children and adults will appreciate the new skill levels and play options, which prevent the game becoming tedious for more adept players. These levels have replaced the Vox Bop or Beat Bop options of the earlier model.
The introduction of skill levels and the difficulty of the higher levels may frustrate younger players with poorer co-ordination skills.
Bop It Download Features

- Players can choose to start from the beginning or from a previously achieved level.

- Potential high score of 1000.
- Depending on the level of difficulty, commands could be given by voice, sound effect, coloured light or a combination of voice and colour (action should only be played if voice and colour match).

- USB facility (cable included) for downloading new sounds.
- Microphone (included) for recording voice commands and responses.

Both games require three AA batteries (not included). Bop It Download has the following system requirements for voice and beat downloads:

Fun and Challenging Game for One or More Players
Bop It Extreme 2 and Bop It Download are ideal party games as well as being fun for individual play. They are challenging as well as entertaining across a range of ages. Both are marketed for ages 8+, however Bop it Download is perhaps better suited to slightly older children and provides more of a challenge for teenage and adult players. They are a great gift idea for hard to buy for school-aged boys and teenagers.
